Weekly Market

Launched on March 27th Trowbridge now has not one but two weekly markets in the Old Town area of the town in Fore Street, to compliment the Indoor Market that takes place six days a week in Castle Place.

The Town Team in partnership with Wiltshire Council hold the Community Market and General Market on a weekly basis on Wednesday’s throughout the year.  The new Community Market already has a nice core of traders but are looking for more.  If you think you have got what it takes to trade with us make sure you call the Market Manager, Ellie Gill on 07971184723

We’re especially excited here at Town Team HQ about finding local, social and ethical businesses and as such are designating a percentage of our stalls to new businesses under our Table for a Tenner scheme for three months.  We shall be offering support for these businesses too and have links to great organisations operating within the County for this such as the Chamber of Commerce and The Fredericks Foundation, so get in touch if you have a new business idea that you think we can help with.

The Town Team sought funding from the Area Board and  received support from our MP, Dr Andrew Murrison by becoming Town Team Partners to purchase high quality umbrellas for the market, so all you have to do on the day is bring yourself, your stock and a table to start trading.

You’ll need all legislative requirements such as Public and Product Liability Insurance and if you are a food producer will need to have been checked out by the Environmental Health Department of Wiltshire Council in addition to talking through your business model with Weights and Measures but we can advise you on all of that.

If you would prefer to pop down to the market and talk to someone there about trading…. just look for the white umbrellas at the Town Hall end and ask one of the traders for John Leiper who will happily chat through what we would require from you and when you could start.
