Trowbridge Christmas Lights 2013

Now in it’s second year on November 30th 2013, the Town Team will be putting on a Victorian Market as part of  the towns Christmas Lights Switch On Celebration.

Three years ago Trowbridge Museum held their first Dickensian Trail.  It has proved a whopping success and is now a yearly event with shops dressing their windows and the whole town taking part.  The Town team now join in the fun to bring a Victorian Night Market to the Old Town Quarter of Fore Street as part of the Christmas Lights Switch On event and this year the town will have free parking in all Wiltshire Council car parks on the day as well as reduced parking charges in The Shires.

Stroll down to the Old Town Quarter of Fore Street for our annual Christmas Light Switch-On and you may feel like you are stepping back in time.  You won’t see the harsh plastic reality of the modern, coca-cola inspired Christmas’s that we have come to know and dread but will be transported instead to a gentler time.  We can’t promise you street urchins, filthy streets or cheeky barrow boys but what we can promise you is a Christmas Experience for all the family, where you will be able to see for yourself the quality of food, arts and crafts that Wiltshire has to offer.

Stalls representing local community organisations, piled high with local food and twinkling with gifts and presents for loved ones will line Fore Street, with many of the people behind them dressed once again in traditional costume.

So put the date in your diary now and join us for a very special evening in Trowbridge to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.

If you think you would like to take part on the day and have a stall selling something handmade, homemade, ethical, sustainable or just absolutely fabulous please contact our event co-ordinator Ellie Gill on 07971184723
