In November TTT Chair, David Baker was interviewed by Town Team Advisor for the South-West Lucy Ball.
Lucy, appointed by the Association of Town and City Management who deliver the Town Team support programme on behalf of the Department for Communities and Local Government, was very interested in the work the Town Team have been carrying out and wanted to find out about plans for the future.
In the interview David talks about the teams plans to formalise regeneration activity with a Business Improvement District (BID’s) process having already started. A BID is a business led and business funded body formed to improve a defined commercial area, giving Town center groups the flexibility to decide and direct what they want for their area. In effect local businesses are represented and have a voice in issues affecting their area, acting as a mechanism with which to increase footfall, promote the area and facilitate network opportunities with neighbouring businesses amongst other benefits.
The subsequent case study that has now been produced by the Department for Communities and Local Government about the work of Trowbridge Town Team, also outlines plans for a Business Expo in this Magna Carta Year of celebrations.
